WhatsAPP one of the leading chat messengers has now unofficially rolled out the VOIP calling. Even though there has not been any official statement but the calling features have started at least few rumors suggest that. UAE is a place which is guided by the Telecom Regulatory Authority. However, there is no official confirmation on the calling APP. According to rumors, one person has successfully activated the WhatsAPP Voice Call feature and successfully spoke to the relative present in India. However, there is no proven record of it in UAE and in many other countries as of now.
The present scenario explains that a link has to be downloaded in order to avail the service. However, even then one needs to be invited by others to get the feature activated. Some of them reportedly activated it, and some failed. It seems, WhatsAPP Voice Call Feature has put this feature in Testing Phase and very soon will introduce the official confirmation. The technical troubleshooting is also expected to be sorted by then in UAE and other parts of the world.
However, the challenge of the feature will start when it officially announces it especially in UAE. UAE does not allow any unlicensed and unauthorized calling feature in the country. It is to be remembered here that one of the popular VOIP service Skype is also not available for calling in UAE. But one thing is for sure, when officially launched, WhatsAPP Voice Call can start the fierce competition among the VOIP features like Skype, Viber and all the Telecom Networks in the world.
As of now, the WhatsAPP Voice Call feature is in the eye of spammers as well. It has been learnt that many malicious links have been sent to Whats APP for download which redirects the user to malicious websites and viruses that further damage your phone and stole information.
