According to Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs of Dubai, Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri mentioned that very soon the expatriates residing in GCC regions will be able to apply for Visa for entering in UAE via smart application.
Al Marri mentioned that last month 2628 people from GCC region applied for visa to enter in UAE. Out of which 2512 people requested for residential visa and 116 people requested for work visa. He mentioned in a press conference that smart application system will help in simplifying the visa procedures from now onwards and the applicants can track their request online. He also mentioned that the new application will allow the entry of GCC expatriates from any UAE borders.
Al Mari mentioned in his press conference that the decision of smart application was taken by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. His Highness envisioned delivering smart governance to all the GCC residents. Assistant Director-General for Ports Affairs at the GDRFA-Dubai, Lt. Col. Talal Shanqeeti mentioned that Dubai government is encouraging people to use online facilities which will make the process easier and transparent.
He mentioned that all the aspiring applicants can send their request online on the portal from October. The smart application will inform the applicant about their visa status via notification automatically. The GCC expats can get 30 days visa in Dubai for AED 220 and can renew the visa after 30 days. The same charges apply for other family members entering UAE. However, the visa for domestic helpers is available for 60 days.
In order to raise awareness about the new visa policy GDRFA-Dubai is distributing pamphlets and brochures in both Arabic and English languages. The smart application is implemented in the month of April.
